Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a reporter for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has a BA degree in English from the University of Pennsylvania. In 1967 Mitchell became a reporter for KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She became a reporter for the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located in Washington DC. In Washington she was named general correspondent for NBC News two year later. In 1981, she began reporting on the White House. In 1988, she became chief congressional reporter. Mitchell was promoted to the chief White House correspondent in 1992. And Chief Foreign Affairs Correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell has been a panelist, as well as host of the TV program Meet the Press. She was on the panel of the 1988 presidential debates which pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the spouse of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has received numerous awards in journalism, among them the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. She was also honored by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell began covering in the White House in 1981-1988, in both the Reagan presidency. Mitchell was a reporter on a range of noteworthy stories, such as the Iran-Contra scandal as well as budget tax reforms and the arms control. She traveled along with Reagan on numerous occasions to meet with Reagan on numerous occasions to attend summits and discuss matters such as the Iran Contra controversy.
