Louisa Krause was born in New York City. Her most well-known role was Anna Garner, the main character in The Girl Experience. Brenda Woodberg, her first film role, was played by Babysitters. Krause was an undergraduate majoring in drama and then appeared in several off-Broadway shows. Krause also appeared in New York-based episodes of network TV series. The family is from American as well as half-Japanese origin. Nathaniel's older brother Nathaniel works as a film director. Her interest in arts began at an early age when she studied dance at the Washington School of Ballet, Washington D.C. She then went on to appear in a variety of musicals and stage plays of Bill Russell and Henry Krieger as well as Side Show. Following high school, she enrolled in an acting program at Carnegie Mellon Drama School. Krause was able to start her acting career right after. Krause earned her Equity certificate by appearing in a musical-based production of Aida. Louisa Krause got her start in the theater. She appeared in Huntington Theatre Company's production Iphigenia 2 in 2006. She was Iphigenia as part of Signature Theatre Company's Iphigenia 2 production in 2007.
