Aurora Aksnes earliest musical memory is of finding an attic piano and being fascinated by the music it could create. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes encouraged Aurora to study music, not for work or for a passion and as a way to improve. As a result, she began to write the music she composed herself. Her sources include noted authors Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan and her love of Bjork's style. When her mother told her that the songs she wrote could be used to not be famous for her, but instead to inspire people to realize the importance of their work and influence on our world at large, she started playing them on stage. At age 6 she started playing the piano and at nine was writing music. The fact that she was a musician wasn't known to her family members until she was fourteen. Aurora isn't something she imagined as a child. According to her, she just likes to write songs. According to her music, it is the most efficient way to express anything.
